Lessons resume this week
From the President:
Thank you to Margaret Kyburz and all the members who have helped at Summer Supervised this year. I am sure that the supervised players have appreciated your time and friendliness.
I appeal for your help in the carpark. Please drive SLOWLY and take care – think about how to make 3HX when you get home.
Best wishes,
Pam
Condolances
We were saddened to hear of Walter Koochew’s sudden death this week. He is a long time member of this club, in recent times playing most frequently on Thursday mornings.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday 2 February (tomorrow) at 11.30am at William Cole Funerals, 60 Nettlefold Street, Belconnen.
We extend our condolences to his wife and family.
Ambulance
The committee authorises directors and managers to call an ambulance for a seriously ill member as seems necessary.
Our duty of care means that it is not a good time for a debate!
Please do not block ambulance access to the club by parking where you should not, no matter how difficult parking is.
Thank you all for your help in this.
Overheard Recently
Playing with John Donovan, Lynne Moss announced to the opposition that they had made some small changes to their card. One of them immediately piped up "But is John going to stick to it?" to which John’s reply was "If the moon is in the right quadrant, and the planets are appropriately lined up, then ... maybe!"

Notices
Membership renewal now overdue
If you would like to retain your CBC Membership for 2019, and have not yet paid your fees, please do so as they are now overdue. Membership fees can be paid to the managers, to the director, or via bank deposit (with your surname & ABF number in the reference field).
Southern Cross Club Community Benefits
Please don’t forget the Southern Cross Club Community Benefits Scheme. Any person who is a member of Southern Cross can assign their benefits to CBC. Once your card is registered with CBC, you simply need to have it swiped when you buy food or drink at the Southern Cross Club, knowing you are helping our bridge club. You do not need to tell any Southern Cross Club staff about it. So please join the Southern Cross Club, encourage friends to do likewise, have your cards registered with Kerry or Emily and then eat, drink and be merry at CSCC, while helping the bridge club financially.
Lighter Moments
I told my son, “You will marry the girl I choose.” He said No.
I told him, “She is Bill Gates’ daughter.” He said Yes.
I called Bill Gates, “I want your daughter to marry my son.” He said No.
I told Bill Gates, “My son is CEO of the World Bank.” He said OK.
I called the President of the World Bank, “Please make my son CEO of the World Bank.” He said No.
I told him, “My son is Bill Gates’ son-in-law.” He said OK.
This is exactly how politics works.
