From the President:
Good luck to Andrew Spooner who is playing in the Australian Youth Team in the APBF Championships in Thailand from 5 April.
Many hands would make for lighter work on 5 and 6 April (details below).
Best wishes,
Pam
5-6 April – Please help!
Carpet cleaning will be done by a commercial company from 3pm on Friday 5 April. We will need furniture-moving helpers from 2pm on Friday 5 April and after the afternoon session would everyone who can please lend a hand to at least get everything off the tables.
9:30am Saturday morning 6 April – replace furniture, side tables, bridge equipment (sign-up sheet on the foyer notice board).
Carpark cards
In our continual efforts to reduce members of the public (not playing bridge) using our carpark, the managers place a note on car windscreens requesting that they should not park in our carpark, but to do so the managers need to know which cars belong to members.
Please collect from the office a small CBC Parking card and display this on your windscreen when parking in the CBC carpark.
Lighter Moments
If you are too open-minded, your brains will fall out.

Fun Fact
In the first week of our solar panels, a cloudy week:
- We have saved 420.13lb of CO2 emission
- And that is planting the equivalent of 0.64 of a tree.
Dear Hilda Lirsh,
The famous golfer from our land of Oz, Greg Norman, had the nickname of The Great White Shark. Why was he also given the derogatory nickname of The Great White Fish Finger?
Best wishes,
Ozymandias
§§§§
Dear Ozymandias,
Greg Norman was dubbed The Great White Fish Finger because of his habit of choking under pressure when playing in a major.
This is a lesson for bridge players. If we get a bottom on one board, we should not strive to get it all back on the next. Rather, we should just keep playing our normal game. The American bridge expert Larry Cohen wisely observed that it was easy to win a matchpoint pairs session despite one bottom, but a self-inflicted second bottom makes winning very much more difficult.
Best wishes,
Hilda
